Excursion to the Soviet Datcha in Yekaterinburg

Visit a real Soviet Datcha in the suburbs of Yekaterinburg. The host will tell you about the history of his datcha and about the concept of the private houses in the USSR.

The old Soviet datchas luckily survived in the territory of modern Yekaterinburg. It takes 20-30 min to get to the datcha from the city center. During the tour you will find out why all Soviet Datchas used to be painted green and blue. You'll see how Soviet people were building their tiny houses using railway slippers, metal frames of the old buses and other things they could find, borrow, trade or steal from their workplaces.

The datcha is opened all year long. In winter time the host will treat you with warming drinks.
